Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a strengths-based therapeutic model that views the mind as made up of distinct ‘parts,’ each with their own perspectives, memories, beliefs, and roles. These parts often form as adaptive survival responses to life experiences, particularly those that are traumatic or challenging. At the center of these parts, is our core Self, which is inherently curious, compassionate, and capable of guiding these parts toward healing. The goal of IFS therapy is to help you identify, understand, and harmonize your internal parts, cultivating a sense of balance and self-love.

As an IFS Certified Therapist, I’ll guide you through exploring your internal system, finding where parts live in your body, and learning how different parts influence your emotions and behaviors. By engaging with these parts directly—such as the Critic, the Perfectionist, or the Exiled Child—you will access to genuine self-compassion, heal painful wounds, and ultimately, feel authentically in control of your life.

IFS Therapy is effective for:

  • Healing from trauma such as abuse or neglect, bullying or harassment, sexual assault, or chronic discrimination

  • Getting clear when faced with major life decisions such as whether or not to stay in a relationship or leave your job

  • Deepening into and embracing your intersecting identities

  • Reducing fear, anxiety, or rage that is no longer serving you

  • Overcoming tendencies such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, and self-criticism to become your most empowered self
